Foundation is something most of us don't want to have to wear on a daily basis especially during the summer. You're sweating, swimming and running around. I certainly don't like worrying if my foundation looks cakey or is melting off my face. I'm a dewy girl all of the time, but even more so during these hot months. I want my complexion to look healthy and flawless without looking like a cake face, you know!? Well, these three foundations are my tried and true, ride or die summer foundations that give me glowy, natural and luminescent skin.
- LA Girl Pro HD BB Cream in Medium, $6.99 (you can only purchase online). I know this isn't technically a foundation but I'm including it because it's so gorgeous on the skin and I wear it more than any of my other foundations, this time of the year. This gives the most beautiful, light and natural coverage. If you are looking for a full coverage, than you won't like this. But if you want a foundation that is going to even out your complexion, give you a little more color (my face is a pasty shade of grey, pretty much year round) and feel like nothing on the skin, we have a winner right here. When I wear this, I get compliments on my skin, not my makeup. And isn't that the goal with makeup, to make it look like you're not wearing any but you just look effortlessly pretty? I apply this with my fingers and just massage it in my skin. This doesn't contain an SPF, so don't forget to apply that first.
- Maybelline Fit Me Foundation in Dewy and Smooth in the color 220, $5.99. This is hands down the best makeup deal at the drugstore. I still can't believe this jem is only $5.99. It glides on so easily and melts into my skin. It gives a medium coverage that is build-able if you want a full coverage look. This foundation also comes in a matte formula which I have used, and is great for a matte (not shiny or dewy) foundation. But I always prefer a dewier finish. This gives a very natural finish and wears all day. You can also purchase the Fit Me pressed powder in the matching shade to give more yourself coverage or, for touch ups throughout the day. I apply this with a damp Beauty Blender, but a damp makeup wedge will work great, too. This has an SPF of 18, so it's great for day or night.
- Neutrogena Healthy Skin Liquid Makeup in the shade 60, $13.99 (at Walmart). Nars Sheer Glow Foundation dupe right here! When this is applied to the skin it is almost identical to Nars Sheer Glow, which is a $50 foundation. This gives very natural, sheer, yet still decent coverage. You can build it to a higher coverage by applying a second or third layer. But it will still look and feel lightweight and natural. It applies smoothly and conceals my large pores even without a primer. There are antioxidants in this to, such as chrysanthemum extract and glycerin. This foundation is a little bit pricer than the others but it's still about ¼ the price of the Nars Sheer Glow. I apply this foundation with a foundation brush or a damp Beauty Blender. This contains a SPF of 20 and it's a physical sunscreen which is great for sensitive skin, but just be careful of flashback (white cast on the face) in pictures.
I hope you can now go to Target, Walmart or any drugstore with confidence knowing there is a good and worthy foundation for your summer complexion! There really is no need to spend any more than $15 on a foundation when you have so many great options at your local drugstore or online.
